At Yastabshiroon we strive to provide the highest level of medical care through use of modern methods and technology in diagnosis and treatment. Specialist computers are used to aid medical practitioners in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The latest technology and methods enable new surgical procedures to be carried out. In order to meet the needs of patients for the latest and most advanced medical and surgical procedures, the University of Medical Sciences and Technology established The Yastabshiroon Medical Center to be the last word in medical services in Sudan. We hope our services will soon extend into neighboring countries. The Center occupies an area of 3,600 square meters and is located east of the University of Medical Sciences & Technology in Riyadh, Khartoum. The facility was designed to provide maximum comfort for patients. The building has three floors served by an elevator.

The Center provides three major services:

a. MRI - The first MRI was installed and used in Yastabshiroon Medical Center. The staff running the MRI are highly knowledgeable and experienced

b. Spiral CT-Scan - The first of its kind in Sudan. The operation of this CT is controlled by a microcomputer that enhances the image quality and shortens the entire testing process. Like the MRI, the staff working at the CT-Scanner are knowledgeable and have extensive work experience.

c. Radiographic X-Ray - Capable of performing fluoroscopic screening, special contrast procedures, IVU and other urological procedures and Barium studies among others. A digital X-Ray unit is also in use for routine x-ray examinations. In addition, Dental X-ray Units are available for specialized individual tooth and panoramic view x-rays.

d. Obstetric Ultrasound Machines - Capable of diagnosis in Obstetric and Gynecology and abdominal disorders.

e. Digital Color Doppler Ultrasound Machine - Capable of diagnosing disorders in the veins and the heart. The staff who running the Doppler Ultrasound have been trained in the United Kingdom and we are proud to welcome them back to Sudan.

f. Laboratory - There are two sections in the Laboratory with different branches: Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Histopathology and Hormones. The Laboratory operates 24 hours a day. 1st. Section - this section is equipped with high tech computerized equipment. 2nd Section- this section performs manual testing. It supports the 1st section. Both sections work together to correlate results. The Head of the Laboratory is a Professor and a pathologist. There are five Philippine expatriates working in the Laboratory together with ten highly trained local medical technology staff.

g. Endoscopy - For the upper and lower GIT and respiratory studies. Rigid and flexible sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy in addition to bronchoscopy and cystoscopy. There are three highly trained specialists working in these areas.

h. EEG and EMG - These instruments utilize a digital technology system which is more accurate and reliable than other systems. The staffs are highly trained and competent in their use of the machines. The Head of the section is a highly trained physician and a specialist in neurology.

i. ECG - The ECG machine in the Center is a computerized multi-channel ECG machine. It is equipped with a built-in battery that enables the equipment to be transported and used even in locations where there is no electricity.

.j. Audiometer - Hearing impaired patients can avail of the latest testing audiometer with the consultation of a Specialist. The testing is available weekly on Sundays and Wednesdays from 9:00 until 11:00 AM.

There are 25 specialists that conduct clinical consultations with patients in the Center. They acquired training in their field of specializations and gained experience working abroad. The Family Doctors cover the medical needs of the citizenry, with high level first-aid care and emergency service. They also provide routine analysis and medical check-ups for healthy individuals. The Family Doctors Clinic is open 24 hours a day. The doctors on duty also serve as assistant specialists. A Nutrition Clinic under the care of Nutrition Specialist is also available, who gives advice to the other specialists and patients on methods of proper nutrition.
