The Software Engineering Department "SWED" was established in 2009 and is responsible for all the UMST needs regarding the IT solutions and services . It consists of 3 units:

1. Software Engineering Unit "SWEU": Responsible for developing and maintaining all UMST IT applications and services.

- Responsible to ensure maximum availability of computer systems throughout the University.

- Responsible for the provision of IT infrastructure services including desktop applications, Local and / or Wide area networks, IT security and telecommunications.

- Development and implementation of new systems.

- Working with senior management to propose, agree and deliver IT service to defined Service Level Agreements.

- Responsible for IT software and maintenance procurement.

- Responsible to develop and control the IT security policy.

- Responsible to maintain and develop the UMST website.
